TABOO THOUGHT COLLECTIVE POP-UP ART SHOWS
Taboo Thought Collective is a Brooklyn based art group founded in 2017 and led by female filmmakers, Karla Llompart and Brittany Santagata. Stemming from a desire to foster a community of local Brooklyn artists, Taboo curates pop-up art shows annually uniting various art mediums by commissioning thematic work.
Each exhibition has a unique challenge for the artists to interpret. The result is an event showcasing several mediums including film, live music, painting, writing, photography and installation, each revealing a different approach to the prompt, while creating a collective perception.
Past shows have each featured 20+ emerging visual artists, performances by local bands and DJs, and sponsorship from Narragansett and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Over 250 people have attended each event.
